At Porch Light, we believe in lighting the way for young storytellers — helping them turn creativity, curiosity, and courage into something they can share with the world.
Our blog shines a light on the joy, imagination, and personal growth that come from performing arts education. Whether it’s a peek behind the curtain of our latest production, insights into creative learning, or a reflection on the simple magic of make-believe, this is where we share what inspires us (and hopefully inspires you, too).
We’re a team of educators, directors, and dreamers passionate about helping kids build confidence, empathy, and expression through theatre. From first steps on stage to standing ovations, we celebrate every moment of discovery along the way.
At the heart of our work is Building Characters – the belief that theatre doesn’t just create performers, it helps shape people. Every rehearsal, every role, and every story told on stage teaches teamwork, resilience, and self-awareness. We don’t just teach lines; we help young people learn to listen, collaborate, and lead with creativity and compassion.
Because at Porch Light, it’s never just about the spotlight — it’s about helping every child find their light.
The Original Design
Porch Light was original founded with the goal of “Leaving the Light On” for all artists.
“Growing up, I can remember playing outside with my friends for hours without end. As day became night, neighboring porch lights would illuminate the night sky, allowing us to play just a little bit longer. The porch light let us know we were safe and that there was always someone there if we wanted to go home. Porch Light Productions was named for this very idea. Porch Light Productions provides an environment where artists of all ages are welcome to explore and experience the many aspects of theatre. Porch Light focuses on the production of original and scripted works while also providing instructional classes, seminars, and workshops. Finally, Porch Light Productions is committed to “leaving the light on” to ensure that all artists will always have a creative place to come home to.”
